should Blago push a redistricting?

Acccording to The Hill (Hans Nichols) Blagojevich is going to get pressure from Jan Schakowsky to redraw the Illinois Congressional map.

Should Blagojevich push for a new map?

I think he has to. The Democrats have some real political capital here in Illinois, and we need to do everything we can to support the sorry state of affairs at the national level.

That said, he has reasons not to. Won't it really hurt him downstate?

If I was in Sprinfield or Decatur and got put into the Quad Cities district I'd be pretty happy to consider a new map.

It won't happen. Madigan won't do it and Blago won't piss Madigan off at this point.

Madigan also doesn't like Schakowsky. Otherwise she would have come to him. Frankly, it's not Blago's call.

Carl, can you add Jay Hoffman to your Goober poll?

At this point, I think it's best for the Dems to sit back and enjoy their statehouse majority. Doing something like this might actually energize the lethargic Repubs into doing something rather than being finger-pointing Illinois Leader junkies.
